Rajasthan Public Service Commission - Compostion & Functions

COMPOSITION

The commission consists of one chairman and six members (including one secretary), appointed by the Chief Minister of the state for a period of 5 years. The secretary in the commission belongs to the IAS cadre and is provided three Deputy Secretaries for assistance.

FUNCTIONS
The commission undertakes following activities:

1. Conducting examinations for appointment to various services of the state
2. Advising Government on following matters:-
   

• Matters relating to the methods of recruitment to civil services and for civil posts
• Principals to be followed in making appointments to the civil services and posts and in making promotions and transfers from one service to another, and on suitability of candidates for such appointments, promotions and transfers
• Disciplinary matters affecting a person serving under state government in civil capacity, including memorials or petitions relating to such matters
• Any claim by or in respect of a person who is serving or has incurred by him in defending legal proceeding instituted against him in respects of acts done or purporting to be done in the execution of his duty should be paid out of the consolidated fund of the state
• Any other matter referred to it by the Government.
