Rajasthan is the largest state of India and has one central university, fifteen state universities and eight deemed universities. The state has has 186 AICTE approved polytechnics, 122+ engineering colleges, 38+ MCA colleges, 135+ MBA colleges and more than 848 ITIs. Rajasthan is known for its engineering institutes like IIT Jodhpur, MNIT Jaipur, BITS Pilani and for the city of Kota, a popular coaching hub for engineering and medical aspirants across India.
Most of the universities and the institutes in Rajasthan conduct their own entrance exams and accept national level entrance exams too for admissions to their programmes. Following are the main entrance exams that need to be taken for admission to various colleges and universities in Rajasthan:
BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) is a computer-based online test for admission to integrated first degree programmes of BITS Pilani (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad & Dubai campuses).
The Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test (RPET) is conducted by the Board of Technical Education of Rajasthan (BTER) Jodhpur, for admission to first year of undergraduate programmes leading to Bachelors degree in different disciplines of engineering (B.Tech. /B.E.) in various government aided and private unaided technical institutions of Rajasthan (except BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other deemed & private Universities.)
The Rajasthan MCA Admission Test (RMCAAT) is conducted by the Government College of Engineering & Technology, Bikaner for admission to first year of Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) course offered by various government aided and private unaided institutions of Rajasthan.
